The Healing Powers of Art

Art has been used as an outlet of self-expression before written/spoken language and is still used today to connect with others who do not speak the same language as us. Research studies have shown a positive relationship between improving one’s mental health and the arts. Many forms of creative expression constitute art including, but not limited to, people who perform, make music, fine arts, literary arts, cook, illustrate, and bring people together for transformation. From a viewer’s perspective, it can provoke a reaction and serve as a reminder that we share a universal human experience. Most importantly, creation is essential to life and proof of our existence.
